Jewish Museum in olde city Philadelphia.
To begin with if anyone wants to read the Article here is the link : Philly Museum opens with stars, speeches and plenty of American Nostalgia.
The new Jewish Museum in olde city, Philadelphia opens in the next couple of days. Great, great, great. As you know some really great superstars came to celebrate the pre opening of the museum which is scheduled around the thanksgiving holiday. What a great tribute to Jewish life in America. Talking to my father who is not doing well, and always being reminded of the plight of the Jewish people at the time of the holocaust, from which I am a 2nd generation survivor, I see the next generations, and the next generations of children being slightly removed and not understanding the atrocity of what happened to the people of Europe and I do mean Jewish people as well as non Jewish people, during the time of the Nazi ruling on eastern Europe.
This museum is not only a tribute to Jewish life in America but a great tribute to the preservation of human life around the world. Question! What gives anyone or any race the right to determine who is better and who deserves the right to survive? Thank you to the founders of the Jewish museum of American Life for bringing this to us, not only to the people of Philadelphia, but to the world.
So while spending non vacation time in Florida with my parents, I was looking thru some genealogy stuff that my mother has tons of and find myself waking up at 2:00 in the morning, staring at a photograph of my grandfather who perished in the camps during World War 2. I found myself just staring at the photograph which I believe was about 15 minutes or so and was Just flooded with different thoughts about life in Europe and life in America and I turned figured that the idea of this great museum was built as a tribute to humanity and the survival of people in all races, religion and beliefs. I found this poem written by Barbara Sonek and I feel that it tells us about all humanity, tells us about what people of different religions and beliefs put other people thru, Jewish as well as non Jewish. We all our born from our mother’s womb.
Let’s bring our boys home from Afghanistan and stop all the nonsense. Live in peace and harmony. Remember our soldiers there are someone’s sons and daughters!
Holocaust
By Barbara Sonek
We played, we laughed, we were loved.
We were ripped from the arms of our parents and thrown into the fire.
We were nothing more than children.
We had a future.
We were going to be lawyers, Rabbis, wives, teachers, and mothers.
We had dreams
Then no hope.
We were taken away in the dead of night
Like cattle in cars,
No air to breathe smothering. Crying. Starving, dying.
To be no more.
From the ashes, hear our plea.
This atrocity to mankind cannot happen again.
Remember us, for we were the children whose
Dreams and lives were stolen away.
