So I was sitting in a hotel this morning The Crowne Plaza having a pretty good buffet breakfast and talking to the waiter that had come over to ask us if we wanted coffee! The waiters name is Pierre and we struck up a pretty good conversation. Wasn’t to busy. Pierre was from Haiti and he definitely wants to go back to his home country but he’s scared. As we all know Haiti is under terrible turmoil. Pierre was telling me about his feelings about the Haitian government a little bit about his wife and kids as well as grandchildren and how he wanted to have his grand kids visit the country of their origin. However as mentioned its thought there. Pierre was telling me about his life since he came to America, we talked about prejudice a little bit about politics and how hard things were for him since he came to this country 35 years ago.
I invited him to sit down and he said he could not even though it was not busy but the upper management would get him into trouble. We talked about how when he was younger he would get beaten up because he was Haitian and how Americans felt about things generating in Haiti. J
What struck me mostly about our conversation was that I asked Pierre “How are you doing with all of this” he answered me ” I am blessed”. I asked him again and he said ” I am blessed, I have a wife, I have a job, I have children and grandchildren I am fairly healthy why would I not believe that I am blessed! So Pierre the Haitian waiter in a hotel dinning room is now my hero! We can always learn from everyone and I love Pierre’s attitude on life.
